Quite the storyteller, Myron was always ready with historical facts and fun anecdotes about his former homes of Mount Vernon, Ohio, Southern California, Alaska (ask anyone in the family about the time he hit a moose in his son Michael’s brand new truck), or Colorado. He would regale you about his time as a teacher, or his time as a U.S. Army soldier during the Korean War. Myron would tell tall tales of Toast Masters International.
Myron’s involvement with the Boy Scouts of America spanned 8 decades in Mount Vernon, Columbus and Alaska. He was the Scout Master of Boy Scout Troops in Mount Vernon. Myron earned an Arrowhead Honor in 1964 and his Wood Badge in 1966. He received the Silver Beaver Award in 1975 and the Vigil Honor Order of the Arrow in 1976. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Mount Vernon before moving to California. He Joined Ascension Lutheran Church upon returning to Columbus. Myron had many social friends which whom he spent time with 5 to 6 nights a week before the Covid shut down. He was forever asking questions and loved to learn something new. During rides to and from the movies he would ask questions about history, science, and current events. He was forever curious and amazed at things. That is how we will remember him.
Myron was a busy man singing in every state that he lived in. The most recent singing groups were Capital City Barbershop, multiple barbershop quartets, Worthington Chorus, Church Choir and Gillies Senior Center. You never knew when he would break out into song next! During his retirement, Myron carved walking sticks on his back porch, kept a large floral garden, loved jigsaw puzzles and the movies.
