

Nancy Lou Elder, passed away on Friday, December 11, 2020 at St. Ann’s Hospital, at the age of 84. She had been residing at The Grove at Oakleaf Village of Columbus. Nancy was born on April 25, 1936 in Columbus to the late Robert and Dora Bastian.
She will be deeply missed by her family. She leaves to cherish her memory, her devoted husband of 63 years, Edward Elder; her children… Brad Elder, Brian (Kay) Elder, Tracy (Marc) Dobner and Lori (Jack) Coverdale; 11 grandchildren, Sean, Nick, Heather, Elena, Brett, Matt, Adam, Brooke, Shelby, Colin, Skylar; and 5 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Ann Hess; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Mike and Carol Elder; her nieces and nephews.
Nancy graduated from Central High School in 1954. She met Jerry the love of her life in 1956 and they married in 1957. They built a beautiful life together, Nancy’s family meant everything to her. She loved to participate in her kids and grandkids activities, you could always find her at a football or soccer game. Her favorite time though was spending the holidays with her family especially at Christmas. She enjoyed baking, and her buckeyes and fudge were a favorite of everyone. Her passion was collecting Santa’s and she had over 300.
Nancy was a lifelong member of St. James the Less where she was involved with countless activities with the church and school which included the Booster Club and Home and School Association. She also helped run the parish festivals and spaghetti dinners. She was a Cub Scout and Girl Scout leader as well.
Her family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00pm on Thursday, December 17, 2020 at SCHOEDINGER NORTH, 5554 Karl Road. COVID protocols are in place at both the funeral home and church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00am, Friday, December 18, 2020 at St. James the Less Catholic Church. Father Andy O’Reilly, Celebrant.
