Nellie Mae Garner

Nellie Mae Garner, age 86, of Blacklick, Ohio passed away peacefully at home on January 8, 2018. Nellie was born June 11, 1931 in New Pittsburgh, OH to Herbert and Ethel (Lanning) Emrick. She married Russell Garner Jr. on June 18, 1949 in Greenup, KY. In addition to being a wife and mother, Nellie worked in a shoe factory, a cookie factory and retired from Western Electric. She loved lighthouses and beaches, her special little guy “Teddy Bear” and her family. She is survived by her daughter, Linda (Ed) Garner McQueary; brother Don Emerick; grandchildren Holly (Alex), Daniel, Jamie, Heidi, Christine (Philip) and Brian (Heather); 8 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild; In addition to her parents, she preceded in death by her husband, Russell Garner Jr., son Russell “Rusty” Garner and brothers, Virgil and Bob Emerick. Visitation will be held 11am-1:30pm Thursday, January 11, 2018 (with a service beginning at 1:30) at Schoedinger Northeast Chapel, 1051 E.
