Niels 'Chris' Petersen

Niels Christian "Chris" Petersen III, age 51, passed away, while surrounded by his loving family, on September 17, 2021. Chris was born on September 23, 1969 in Columbus, Ohio. Chris was currently residing with his family in Gahanna, Ohio.

Chris is survived by his beloved wife, Roni (Shoemaker), loving children Carter and Reagan; brother Matt Petersen (Jill); sister-in-law Annette Roahrig (Paul); nephews Kyle and Chase Petersen; and an extended family of those who loved him deeply. Chris is preceded in death by his parents, Niels (Bud) and Pat Petersen.

Chris was a 1987 graduate of Beechcroft High School where he played tennis and golf. He continued his tennis career at Ohio University, where he received his Bachelor's degree. Chris married his beautiful wife Roni on October 19, 1996.

Chris enjoyed every moment with his family and loved spending every Saturday in the fall watching OSU football games with his parents and brother, Matt. He also loved his family vacations in Emerald Isle, North Carolina, simply sitting on the beach and eating great seafood.

Chris worked for Tropical Nut and Fruit in Grove City for almost 20 years where his coworkers became his second family.

Please join us in celebrating his life on Thursday, September 23 at Schoedinger NORTHEAST Funeral Home, 1051 E. Johnstown Rd., Gahanna from 4:30-7:30 pm. Since we are coming together on his birthday, the family requests that you come wearing Ohio State or Ohio University gear to honor his memory.
