

She was born in 1927. She was a lifelong resident of Bexley, graduating from Bexley High School in 1945 and The Ohio State University in 1949, where she was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta.
Pat lived life to the fullest and blessed those around her by letting it overflow. She served as Deacon, Elder and Trustee at her beloved Broad Street Presbyterian Church. She was a founding member of The Little Garden Club of Columbus, Ohio, a member of Twig 2 of Children’s Hospital, the Women’s Board of Columbus Museum of Art, and was a founding member of the Service Board of OSU Medical Center. Pat was a devoted volunteer of The James Cancer Center from which she was recently awarded the “Spirit of Hope.” Her service to the community was recognized by the state legislature this spring when she was commended as “one of Ohio’s finest citizens.” Her motto “Always choose HOPE over fear” served her well.
She was predeceased by her husband Daniel Howland, granddaughter Maggie Moyler, sister Mary Jane Smith and parents Mary and Bill Trayte.
She was loved and will be greatly missed by her children, Bryce Johnson, Charlotte (Jim) Moyler, Mary (Mark) Boswell and Anne (Joe) Myers. She particularly treasured time with her grandchildren, Jake Moyler; Patricia, Trayte, and Courtney Boswell; Baylor, Charlotte and Emmy Myers; and April Johnson. She is also survived by stepchildren Janie and Dan Howland and their families.
Pat was a realtor, successfully serving Coldwell Banker King Thompson. She was a member of Rocky Fork Hunt and Country Club for over sixty years. Pat enjoyed spending her summers in Lakeside, Ohio, where she has a cottage.
Services will be held on Saturday, June 1 at 11:00am at Broad Street Presbyterian Church (760 E. Broad Street, Columbus, Ohio 43205). Reception to follow in Palmer Hall.
