

Patricia Hinson Washburn, age 67, after a lengthy illness, passed away peacefully on Friday March 25, 2011 at Riverside Methodist Hospital with her loving family by her side. Pat was born May 21, 1943 in Sumter, South Carolina to the late Erline W. and William A. Hinson Sr. Pat was a beautiful redheaded lady, inside and out, winning local and regional pageants in South Carolina. She had a very passionate and powerful personality and you always knew where you stood with her. Pat was a certified paralegal and worked over forty years in the legal profession. She retired from Bricker and Eckler after 25 years. She loved to garden and was a Master Gardner, offering her talents as a volunteer at Chadwick Arboretum. Pat also enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, traveling, and attempting new things like jumping out of an airplane at age 55! She was an active member of First Baptist Church of Columbus and Bible Study Fellowship. Pat, along with her parents, is preceded in death by three brothers;Wm. A. Hinson Jr., R. Theron Hinson, and M. Burnett Hinson.
She is survived by her husband, Rob Washburn; daughters, Cassaundra (Tony) Bellezza of Hummelstown, PA. and Sarah (Matt) Brewer of Denver, CO.; grandchildren, Gabriella, Anthony, Benjamin, and Madeline; her 15 cats; brother and sisters, Louis Carlisle Hinson of Sumter, SC., Frances H. DeGarmo of Albany, NY., Willene Josey of Augusta, GA., and Clara Inel (Nick) Nicholson of Connellsville, PA.; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank numerous friends for their support and encouragement during Pat’s illness, the care givers at Whetstone Gardens and Care Center, and the doctors, nurses, and hospice providers at Riverside Methodist Hospital. In lieu of flowers family requests contributions made in Pat’s name to OSU Chadwick Arboretum & Learning Gardens, 232 Howlet Hall, 2001 Fyffe Ct, Columbus, OH 43210 or Cat Welfare. A memorial visitation and service will be held at the SCHOEDINGER MIDTOWN CHAPEL, 229 East State St., Columbus, OH. 43215 on Monday, April 11, 2011 from 4:00pm until 6:00pm with the service and a celebration of Pat’s life following at 6:00pm. Dr. Paul Large officiating.
