Patrick O. Moore, after a brief illness, on March 30, 2017, in Columbus. Survived by loving wife Kathy Moore; daughter Margaret Moore Rock and her husband, Jim Rock (Columbus); grandson Gabriel Rock (Columbus); son Brendan Moore (New Orleans); sisters Elizabeth Westenbarger (Athens, Ohio) and Millicent Moore (Columbus); and a large extended family. Patrick grew up in Grandview Heights and maintained treasured friendships with many classmates. He attended The Ohio State University, attaining a B.A. and M.A. in English literature, and worked as a technical editor at the American Society for Nondestructive Testing (ASNT) for 34 years. His knowledge and interests covered a broad spectrum, from medieval rhetoric and Biblical Greek, to engineering practices, to Ohio and local history. His attendance at the annual science fiction movie marathon was legendary. Patrick's family, friends, and associates will miss his wacky sense of humor; his cheerful eagerness to convey his knowledge on any topic, at any time; and his dedication to doing his best to support and improve their lives at home, at work, and in the community. As he always said, his attitude toward life was the same as his blood type: Be Positive. A memorial service to celebrate Patrick's life will be held on Friday, April 7, 2017, at 2 pm at the SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST CHAPEL, 1740 Zollinger Road, Upper Arlington, followed by an hour for conversation and sharing of memories. In lieu of flowers, we request contributions in Patrick's memory to Ohio History Connection (formerly the Ohio Historical Society). To share memories or condolences, please visit www.schoedinger.com
