Paul R. Mills, Sr. passed away Friday, November 12, 2010 at the age of 95. He was truly a classic gentleman. He was born to Arlie and Emma Mills in Middleport, Ohio on May 26, 1915. Most of his family knew the life of the coal mines and it's possible that he started his fascination with trains growing up in the Middleport/Pomeroy area. He met his wife, Mary Halloway, on a blind date and ultimately enjoyed 63 years of marriage. He was the proud father of Paul R. Mills Jr. (daughter-in-law Mary) and Mary Kay Denlinger (son-in-law Larry) and loved all of his family so very much. Paul, as a young man, was one of the last of the gas lamp-lighters. He would light the lamps at night and then go around and extinguish the lights when the sun came up. He served in the US Army attaining the rank of TSgt. and worked most of his life as a photo engraver in the fabric printing industry. Paul will be remembered for his love of model trains, which his son continues to enjoy, as well as a nice lemon merangue pie or a comforting home cooked meal. Family will receive friends 6-8 Tuesday, November 16 and 12-1 Wednesday, November 17, at Schoedinger North Chapel, 5554 Karl Rd., Columbus, OH 43229 where services will be held at 1pm Wednesday; Rev. Dave Trout officiating; His burial will follow at Sunset Cemetery.
