Paul Bliss Waid

1927-2017

Paul Bliss Waid, born in Toledo, OH on March 12, 1927, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 12, 2017. Paul was retired from State Auto Insurance Companies. He was a Navy Seabee who honorably served in WWII in Guam and the Manus Islands. Preceded in death by parents, Paul and Mildred Bliss Waid; spouse, Corinne Hubacher Waid; and daughter, Susan Waid Groom. Survived by daughters Barbara (Michael) Irish, Nancy (Bill) Thompson, Peggy (Stephen) Rowe; son-in-law, Joseph Groom; grandchildren, Jennifer (Jeff) Parker, Paul (Ashlee) Thompson, Anne (John) DiBlasio, Pam (Walter) Chandler, Michael (Sarah) Groom; ten great-grandchildren. Paul was a longtime volunteer at St. Ann's Hospital and a longtime member of St. James The Less Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial 1:00 p.m. Friday, August 18, 2017 at Resurrection Cemetery Chapel, 9571 N High St, Lewis Center, OH 43035, Fr. Carl Subler Celebrant. Interment to follow the service. Family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, August 17, 2017 at SCHOEDINGER NORTH CHAPEL, 5554 Karl Rd. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Ovarian Cancer research in memory of Paul's daughter Susan.
