

Philip P. Brown, age 73, (affectionately known as Prince Philip and Pappa), passed away on April 27, 2010 at 3:11 PM at the Kobacker House. He was born in Chillicothe, OH on October 3, 1936 to the late Harold F. and Bessie Mae Brown. He attended Chillicothe High School where he participated in basketball and track. Phil still holds the record for 42 points scored in one basketball game. He attended Ohio University where he played basketball as well. While at OU Phil met Mary Baldwin (Queen Mary) and were married on January 11, 1958. Philip’s careers included, the Athens Messenger, The Painesville Telegraph, and The Land Title. Phil and Mary moved to Columbus, OH in 1970. He had a long standing career in the Land Title Insurance Industry. His careers in Columbus included The Chicago Title Insurance Company and Buckeye Federal Savings and Loan. In 1981 he started his own Title Company called Title First Agency. Additional companies included Celtic Title/Midland Celtic Title/First American Title. Memberships included YMCA and Exchange Club, (Painesville) and, lifetime member of Mortgage Bankers and the OLTA, (Columbus) and was a volunteer with Habitat for Humanity, (Naples). Upon retirement in 2007 Phil and Mary moved their residency to Naples FL. His love of golf spanned several years; thirty seven years at Worthington Hills Country Club and ten years at Imperial Golf County Club. Survivors include his wife of fifty two years, Mary, son Breck (Holly), daughter Bridget (Jay), and daughter Brenda (Serf.), beloved grandchildren Taylor, Jordan, Grayson, Chase, Cody, Casey, Brandon, Bryceson and Brian, seven brothers and sisters, Janet (Robert) Ortman, Richard (Sandy) Brown, Thomas Brown, Joe Brown, Jane (Dan) Lusher, Ruth Ann (Leonard) Pinkerton and Doug (Jackie) Brown, many nieces and nephews. Friends may call Saturday at Linworth United Methodist Church, 7070 Bent Tree Blvd, Columbus, OH 43235 from 12-1 PM where a memorial service will be held at 1 PM. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Home Reach Hospice, Ohio Health Foundation, 180 E. Broad St., Columbus, OH 43215 or American Lung Cancer Association.
