Phyllis M. Flaig

She is survived by children: Cindy Robinson (Rob) and Greg Flaig (Carrie); grandchildren: Chelsea and Alexa Robinson, Amanda, Cameron, and Candace Flaig , Christian Lawson, and great grandson, Jonathan Ruiz. She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Bernard Flaig, and the parents she adored, Don and Florence Arnold.

Phyllis was proud to have worked as the Credit Manager at Thal's, a high fashion ladies store in Dayton, Ohio early in her career, where she also did some modeling. She then worked alongside Bernie at Lowe Brothers in Racine, Wisconsin, doing whatever was necessary for the paint store to be successful. Later in life, she worked at the Henderson Road Krogers store for a number of years, affectionately known by many as the "Cheese Lady", demonstrating their cheese products. She also enjoyed volunteering at the Upper Arlington Senior Center.

Having watched her family lose everything in the depression, through hard work and sacrifice, she lived her dream - being married to the love of her life Bernie, owning a home, being financially secure and being a housewife and stay at home mom.

She adored her children and was delighted to spend time with her grandchildren; Amanda, Chelsea and Alexa were fortunate enough to know her when she was well and she doted on them when watching them, always making their favorite foods and making holidays especially memorable.

She grew up with a strong foundational belief in Jesus Christ and returned to church in her 70s. She was very proud to be baptized in 1999 and was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church.

Thank you to her caregivers at ViaQuest Hospice and Sunrise on the Scioto, who provided her with great love, care and compassion.

A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, November 13, 2014 at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST CHAPEL, 1740 Zollinger Rd., Columbus, OH, Rev. Dr. Tracy R. Keenan, officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
