

R. Jack Willey, age 66, of Columbus, Ohio passed away March 19, 2014. He was born July 14, 1947 to the late Ralph Jackson and Betty Lou (Bingham) Willey; also preceded in death by his brother Mike. Jack began to develop his love for journalism while attending Greenville High School in Darke County. He continued his education at Wright State University and the University of Maryland. Jack worked at Eastland Mall and oversaw the enclosure of Westland Mall. He wrote for the Dayton Daily News and the Columbus Dispatch, where he became well known through his daily informative column on Columbus people and events. He brought his experiences and relationships with celebrities from all over the world, to the people of Columbus, Ohio. Jack golfed in several Pro-Am golf tournaments, was a passionate race car driver, enjoyed skiing, sailing and fishing. He was a board member of numerous organizations and LOVED the OSU Buckeyes. He is survived by his life partner of 18 years, Sherri Palmer; sister Terri (Hunt) Ashby; brother-in-law Russell Ashby; brother James Willey; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and good friends. A Celebration of Life will be held from 1-3pm on April 13, 2014 at The Boat House at Confluence Park, 679 W. Spring St., Columbus, OH 43215.
