A native of Grandview Heights, Ohio, Andy graduated from Grandview High School in 1954 where he was active in sports, co-captain of the football team and made many lifelong friends
While attending Hanover College, Andy enjoyed being a member of the Beta Theta Pi Fraternity as well as playing football with brother Dick. It is there that Andy met the love of his life, Ann Taff, and the two later married in 1959 and resided in Upper Arlington, Ohio, where they raised their three children.
Upon graduating from Hanover in 1958, Andy joined the Air National Guard and then moved home where he became Vice President of Anderson Concrete Corporation in 1959 and succeeded his father as President of the company in 1976. In addition to Anderson Concrete Corporation, Andy successfully led and shaped the culture of Columbus Bituminous Concrete Corp. and Van Camp Contracting in his 50 years of service to the family businesses.
Andy was an active member of the central Ohio community and served on many boards such as Columbus Clippers, State Savings, Riverside Hospital, Ohio Ready Mix, and the Columbus Builders Exchange.
Andy’s absolute love and devotion to family and friends was prominent to all. As a father, he coached baseball and softball and shared his love of history with his children and grandchildren. Some of his greatest memories were summers spent with family and friends at Lake Santee, Indiana, and Killarney Provincial Park, Ontario, and winters in Longboat Key, Florida. Andy enjoyed many rounds of golf at both Scioto CC and Longboat Key Club and has been a lifelong member of Trinity UMC and Grandview Heights Alumni Association.
He was preceded in death by his parents Ralph H. and Naomi Anderson; wife Ann; and brother Richard Anderson (Molly).
