We all have lost a great man there are no words that can sum up this amazing brother & friend. My heart and prayers go out to his family. 

I met Randy almost by accident many years ago. We both enjoyed sci-fi and Star Trek because fate brought us together over the same passion and vision. We met at Marcon a sci-fi convention in Columbus, Ohio he was the CO of the Klingon Empire IKB Scorpion at the time and I was in an unusual Klingon uniform resembling an undead Fek'lhr and happened to walk by their table for the Jail-n-Bail.. that's when Randy walked up and started talking as he was so comfortable doing talking about uniform building, sci-fi and the love of Trek, and as they say the rest is history. We have remained very close over the years and I had the honor of speaking with him one final time on my birthday on July 16th this year and the conversation went on how we needed to get together soon and see a movie or grab some dinner. Unfortunately now that will not happen... 

Him and his brother Steve and their families have grown to be extensions of my family and I will miss my older brother but though there is an emptiness in my heart now that Randy is not physically with us we all know he is watching over us from the stern of a mighty ship within the Black Fleet. And there is comfort in knowing if any who walk among us deserve to be in heaven / Stovokor it is that man he showed all of us how to be a better men & Klingons.

I am so sorry for your loss. May the outpouring of sympathy, the kind acts of friends and strangers, as well as your memories give you comfort to help you endure the days ahead. The Bible also offers comfort. “For God is near to those broken at heart. “ Ps 34:17,18. Our Creator promises that there will soon be a time when “death will be no more.” Revelation 21:4

May you serve the Black Fleet proudly, former chancellor Kon'n epetai-Reshtarc. We will meet again for that drink and we will sing our songs together. It was an honor to have known you in this world, I will always remember your passion for our hobby.

My thoughts and prayers go out to Randy's family, we heard so much about them with the various pictures of parties he posted on line, it was clear he was a proud father and grandfather. It occurred to me when Randy called the other night that I am not sure if he ever knew my real name (Alan). We had many great conversations, first by writing on line then later by phone. It was Randy who called me up when he thought I might leave IKEF to talk, even though I was never planning on leaving we spent hours talking about things both in and out of Klingon. We spoke of working in Security and Law Enforcement, we spoke of faith and church, and of course we spoke about Star Trek and fandom. The other night our all too brief conversation was mostly about politics. Like Q'atak has said, for someone I never met we were friends and someday hoped to meet. Sadly that meeting will not happen in this life. 

I include the last verse of the Irish song "The Parting Glass" as it conveys my thoughts and is something that I take comfot in from my celtic heritage.

But since it falls unto my lot
That I should rise and you should not
I gently rise and softly call
Good night and joy be with you all. 

Since you are all OK with this being a Klingon thing as well, I end with an excerpt from the qaptaQ ceremony of remembrance, which the older I get I realize I will be posting far more than I even intended. This are not words that I enjoy writing or speaking, even though I know they are in honor of a friend.

Journey on now, Brother Warrior. Be released now from all ties to this world. Know that we will follow when we must. May we know each other again.

The gates of Sto vo Kor open for another great warrior enters.  He is greatly missed by me as I grew to know him and love him as a brother and as a friend.  I thought of him as family.   May he walk in Sto Vo Kor with bloodwine and share his stories of battles and conquests with the other great and mighty warriors that are there.  May you soar like wings of Eagles into the great unknown winds my friend.  <3.

I never met Randy, although I always hoped that one day I would make the trip from England to America where he was high in my list of people to visit. He was in many ways a mentor to me, offering guidance within Klingon fandom and helping to shape me while never forcing his opinions. It is interesting how someone who you have only ever had written communication with can have such a large impact on you, and the hole which he has left in Klindom and IKEF will probably never be filled.

In the time I knew him, Kon'n stood up for what he (and I) believed to be right and demonstrated what it is to be a true Klingon. He always came across as someone who loved his family very dearly and my thoughts are with them at this time. His posts to the websites of the two fan clubs we were a part of were always as much about his family as they were about Star Trek, often managing to weave the two together, which was lovely to see.

Qapla' qon'n epetaI reStarQ Sa', Western Rider of the Four Horsemen. It was an honour to spar with you in the curse warfare arena and, when the time came, to fight alongside you shoulder to shoulder. You are one of the greatest warriors I have ever known and I was very lucky to be your friend for these past few years.

I will miss this great warrior.. I was lucky enough to have met him once, and we talked often. We were kindred spirits, and I know he will be standing along side Kahless in Sto-Vo-Kor!!

As I am in the UK, I was never lucky enough to meet Randy in person but I knew him from several of the Klingon groups.  He was a great person and he will be sorely missed in the Klingon community and beyond.  The flags of Starbase 24 fly at half mast today and our sincere condolences, thoughts and prayers go out to his friends and family and all affected by his loss.

It was always a great pleasure to talk with Randy he had a wayh of getting you threw troubles like no one else. He was a great friend and a brother in arms and will be greatly missed, See you again my friend one day.
