Rebecca was born June 18, 1952, in Napoleon, Ohio, the daughter of Raymond and Paula (Imbrock) Cordes.
Rebecca was baptized on July 13, 1952 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Napoleon Township Ohio. Rebecca’s confirmation was April 3, 1966 also at St. Paul’s.
Rebeca graduated from Napoleon High School in 1970, then went on to Columbus Business University.
Rebecca worked for Anthem, Inc. for many years ending in a joyful retirement.
In 1989 Rebecca became the proud mother to Keturah Cordes and in 1999 Brianah Cordes. In 2009 Rebecca added grandma to her title with the birth of her beloved grandson KeyonTae Cordes. Rebecca’s greatest joy in life was watching her daughters and grandson grow. She bragged about them to anyone who would listen.
Rebecca loved to travel and spent time living in California and Oregon, but her Ohio roots brought her back and it was Ohio that she called home for the majority of her life. As a proud Ohioian one of Rebecca’s favorite activities was to cheer on The Ohio State University, and she was very happy to see them beat that team from up north one last time.
Rebecca loved the ocean and her favorite vacations included wild banana boat rides with Keturah, Brianah and KayonTae. While on vacation Rebecca loved watching the dolphins swim and jump. When she wasn’t riding the waves, she enjoyed soaking up the sun while reading a good book, or working on crafts. Rebecca loved to laugh and enjoyed a good comedy show. Some of Rebecca’s favorite treats were homemade ice cream and the homemade German sausage Metvous.
Rebecca loved a family event and made sure to never miss a wedding, shower or reunion. She loved to gather with her cousins and reminisce about the big celebrations they had as children, her favorite being Christmas. Rebecca loved to share stories about the travels their parents took them on as kids and what it was like growing up on the farm. Whenever she was in town she made sure to stock up on good farm water to take back to Columbus.
Rebecca’s faith was extremely important to her, she proudly shared the gospel any chance she got, truly living out the call to be a “good and faithful servant.”
Remaining to cherish Rebecca’s memory are her daughters Keturah Cordes and Brianah Cordes, and grandson KayonTae Cordes. Brothers William and Rita Cordes; Daniel and Cathy Cordes. Nieces and nephews Holly, Matthew, Christina, Derick, Robert, and Caitlyn. Along with cherished cousins, numerous extended family members and so many friends.
