

Richard D. Chapman, age 75, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, February 18, 2011 at his home. Richard was born in Columbus on March 19, 1935; he was the son of the late Basil and Irene Chapman. He is a graduate of Linden McKinley High School and received his bachelor’s degree from Franklin University in Business Administration. Richard retired from Applied Industrial Technology (formerly Bearings Inc.) in sales after 42 years of a very successful career. He was a member of Shepherd’s Voice Church for the last 10 years and was a member of the Capital City Masonic Lodge and Aladdin Shrine. He enjoyed researching the Civil War and made several historic trips with his family. Richard will be remembered as a devoted husband, father and grandfather; his family always came first and they will miss him dearly. He is survived by the love of his life and best friend of 56 years, Elizabeth Chapman; loving children, Debbie Ryland, Rick (Kelly) Chapman and Bethanne (Corlis) Johnson; grandchildren, Ryan Chapman, Jamie Chapman, Kyle Johnson, Samantha Ryland and Tyler Lincoln Johnson; great granddaughter, Billie’Shaye Troutman; and special cousin Joan (Gene) Stover. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 22, 2011 from 5-9pm with a Masonic service at 8:45pm at Schoedinger Northwest Chapel, 1740 Zollinger Road, Columbus, Ohio 43221; where funeral services will be on Wednesday, February 23, 2011 at 10am; Pastor Joe Borghese officiating.
