

Richard P. Conie, age 81, of Upper Arlington, went peacefully to be with the Lord, surrounded by his family at Kobacker House, on April 11, 2018, after a valiant battle with acute myeloid leukemia. Graduate of St. Charles High School and attended Xavier University. President of Conie Construction Co. He served in the U.S. Army Reserves. He was passionate about his grandkids and loved attending their activities. He was an avid golfer and deeply enjoyed the camaraderie of his friends. He was a fourth degree knight with the Knights of Columbus, server at the 6:30 mass at St. Andrew Catholic Church. Founding member of Country Club of Muirfield. Member of the Guild Athletic Club, Columbus Athletic Club, Engineers Club, Ohio Contractors Assn, Charity Newsies, Upper Arlington Football Boosters. He was a private pilot, certified scuba diver, and outdoorsman. Preceded in death by parents Jack and Margaret; brothers Jack and Joseph Conie; brother-in-law Richard Massenelli and his wife Violet, and sister-in-law Angela Massenelli. Survived by wife of 59 years Carol; sons Richard J. (Jane), and M. Craig (Bianca) Conie; daughter Ann-Margaret (John) Schuman; grandchildren Richard, Alexander, Marina, M. Bruno Conie, John, Nicholas, James Schuman; and sisters-in-law Louise and Chrystl Conie; brothers-in-law Louis F. and Thomas Massenelli; many nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends 4-7pm Monday, April 16, at the Schoedinger Northwest Chapel, 1740 Zollinger Road. Mass of Christian Burial 10am Tuesday, April 17, at St. Andrew Catholic Church, 1899 McCoy Road. Rev. Anthony Davis Celebrant. Interment St. Joseph Cemetery.
