

Richard P. Elzey, age 87, of Commerce City, CO, formerly of Worthington, OH passed away peacefully on October 8, 2014. Dick was born August 8, 1927 in Columbus to the late John W. and Elizabeth O. (Richter) Elzey and was a U.S. Navy WWII Veteran. He graduated with honors from the School of Architecture at The Ohio State University and remained an avid Buckeye fan throughout his lifetime. He enjoyed a successful career as an architect and retired from the City of Columbus where he served as a plan examiner. Dick was a member of Bethel Presbyterian Church, a former member of the Masonic Lodge and the Columbus Maennerchor, and was always up for a good game of golf. He was preceded in death by his brothers, John W. Jr., Robert and Bill; sister, Marjorie Wilson and granddaughter Tina Kilbourn. Survived by his wife, E. Jean (Bacchus) Elzey, who took his hand in marriage on September 20, 1947; children, Gary Elzey, Tery Elzey, Joy Long and Jil (Zen) Raczkowski; grandchildren, Paul Elzey, Cody Johnston (fiancé Kristin Mathias), Courtney Elzey and Madison Bryant; great-grandson Michael Douglas; sister, Betty Wilson; extended family and friends. A service celebrating Dick's life will be held at 1pm Tuesday, October14, 2014 at Schoedinger East Chapel, 5360 E. Livingston Ave., Columbus, OH 43232 where family will welcome friends from 12-1pm; Pastor Jack Watson, officiating.
