Richard Dale Knight, Sr., age 74, passed away on Monday, May 10, 2021 at home after a courageous battle with lung cancer. Richard was born on June 29, 1946 in Birmingham, AL to Homer and Clothield Knight. Richard proudly served in the US Navy. He retired after 30 years with Norfolk Southern Railroad. He enjoyed woodworking, yardwork and beer thirty. He will be remembered for being the best Papa to Breanna who he affectionately called "Monkey". Preceded in death by his parents, Homer M. Knight and Clo Ellis; and brother, Joseph Knight. Survived by his wife of 44 years, Josephine Knight; children, Andrea (Brad) Birtcher and Richard D. "Ricky" Knight; and granddaughter, Breanna "Monkey" Birtcher; many other relatives and friends. Per his request he will be cremated and no formal service will be held.
