

Richard F. Lewis, 88, of Columbus, passed away on December 20, 2016 with his family by his side. He was born on September 20, 1928 in Emmetsburg, Iowa to Frank A. and Olive L. (Whirry) Lewis. In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his son, Scott Lewis. He spent the majority of his life in Burlington, Iowa, where he met the love of his life, Juanita. They then moved to Columbus, where they spent the rest of their lives together. Richard proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He owned his own business and ran it successfully for many years. He is also one of the original members of Worthington Hills Country Club where he created many special family memories. Richard loved family reunions, golfing, and traveling, but he especially loved being around his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Richard will be deeply missed by his loving wife of 63 years, Juanita (Haines) Lewis; daughter Diane (John) Kapolka; grandchildren, Heather (Kyle) Hoppes and Matt (Victoria) Burbage; four great grandchildren; sister Jacqueline (Jim); and brother Frank (Mary) Lewis. Friends will gather to celebrate Richard’s life on Saturday, January 7, 2017 from 12pm until the time of his service at 1pm at the SCHOEDINGER WORTHINGTON CHAPEL, 6699 North High Street.
