

Richard James Lonske Jr. age 92, Sunrise May 12, 1921 and Sunset September 28, 2013. Dick is a World War II Army veteran and served in the Italy campaigns with the 337th Infantry, 85th Division. He worked for 39 years for Western Electric and AT&T as an Engineer. He is a member of the Columbus Bible Students and VFW Post #8794 in Whitehall. He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard Sr. and Ruth (Asher) Lonske, brother Ronald Lonske, sister Virginia Peterson and brothers-in-law Robert Dunne and Ken Peterson. Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 62 years, Helen; daughters Joanne Lonske, Susan (Larry) Hall, Dawn (Kevin) Wright and Lisa (David) Leatherwood; son Richard (Brenda) Lonske; sisters Patricia Lonske and Evelyn Dunne; brother Quinten (Ellie) Lonske; grandchildren, Mark (Stephanie) Hall, Hannah Hall, Melanie (Brennan) Walden and Marisa Lonske, Maggie, Max and Derek Wright, Maria, Benjamin, Jonathan and Emily Leatherwood; great-grandfather of Laurel and Galina; and many nieces and nephews. He believed in serving others, and was a kind and giving person, as he felt that God expected him to be. He believed in Jesus Christ as a ransom for all and in the blessing of mankind in the Messianic Age. John 3:16. Family will welcome friends 4-7pm Thursday, October 3 and 12-1pm Friday, October 4, with funeral beginning at 1pm on Friday, at Schoedinger East Chapel, 5360 E. Livingston Ave., Columbus, OH 43232; interment to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens; Elder Tim Alexander, officiating. Those who wish may contribute to Disabled American Veterans in his memory.
