

Richard C. Rastetter, Jr., 77, of Columbus, Ohio died August 24, after a brief battle with metastatic melanoma. Rich was born in Fort Dodge, Iowa to Richard and Margaret Rastetter, but spent his childhood in Chicago. He achieved the Eagle Scout distinction before attending Northwestern University, where he met his wife. Rich was a proud member of the Chi Psi Fraternity at Northwestern, where he earned his Bachelors degree in Business Administration. He continued his education at Northwestern University, earning his Masters in Business Administration, before attending Drake University Law School to obtain his Juris Doctorate. Rich had many careers that included attorney, banker and consultant. An avid outdoorsman, Rich loved fishing, hunting, biking and spending time at his beloved farms in Iowa and his family cabin (Green Cedars) in the Northwoods of Wisconsin. He was an active member of his church and frequently volunteered to help the underserved community. Rich was a loving husband, a devoted father and a proud Papa. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Barbara, his 4 daughters, Rebecca Rastetter (Charles Koppel), Robyn Richards (David), Rachel McDonald (Tyson) and Regan Bohnert (Aaron) and his 14 grandchildren – Reese, Ella, Joshua, Abigail, Corinne, Wyatt, Hayden, Catherine, Camille, Celia, Anna, Connor, Hudson and Jillian. He is also survived by his sisters, Christine Sherwood and Melinda Hamilton (James), as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews. The family will receive visitors on Friday, September 15 from 4:00-7:00 pm at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST (1740 Zollinger Rd). The funeral service will be held at St. John’s Episcopal Church (1003 W. Town St.) on Saturday, September 16 at 10:00 am. An interment for family only will immediately follow the funeral service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Drake University Law School for the Rodney Hudson Advocacy Award (www.alumni.drake.edu/givetolaw) or the Boy Scouts of America (https://donations.scouting.org).
