

Richard F. Schmidt, 80, of Whitehall died peacefully Thursday, August 4 at home surrounded by his family. Born November 23, 1935 in Columbus to the late Werner and Elsie (Schafffer) Schmidt. Graduate of Reynoldsburg High School class of 1953, also attended Ohio University. Richard retired after 38 years as a commercial plasterer, member of Plasterers Local #132. He is survived by his loving wife and caregiver of 60 ½ years, Mary "Joan" (Flowers) Schmidt; sons Jim (Mary) of Panama City Beach, FL, and Bob (Barb) of Canal Winchester; grandchildren Joshua, Bobby, Michael and Amanda; four great grandchildren; brother-in-law Bill (Peggy) Flowers; cousins Karen and Kenny Poland; special neighbors Camilia and the Phong family; and numerous cousins and loving friends. Richard enjoyed coaching little league, golf, fishing and hunting. He was a lifetime member of the Buckeye Marble Collectors Club and was inducted into the Reynoldsburg Athletic Hall of Fame in 1995. Richard was a huge fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes. Visitation will be held on Monday, August 8, 2016 from 4-8pm at the SCHOEDINGER EAST CHAPEL, 5360 East Livingston Avenue. His funeral will be held on Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at 1pm at the funeral home. Entombment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Mt.
