

Carl R. “Rick” Cosgray, Jr. age 65, passed away Friday, June 3, 2022. His final days were peacefully surrounded by loved ones. He was born December 5, 1956, in Columbus, Ohio to the late Carl R. Cosgray Sr. and Anne (Page) Gould. Rick graduated from Upper Arlington High School in 1974, where he was Vice President of the Junior Achievement Club and in the marching band. Rick’s career was spent as a store manager at Lazarus department store, the owner of Joyland Daycare Center in Upper Arlington, an activities director for Veterans, and a driver for Shupan in Dayton, Ohio.
Rick’s passions ran deep and wide. He was happiest when on the water, skiing on Buckeye Lake, or boating around Lake Erie with family. He was a music aficionado, spending many years playing the drums and never missed a chance to sing along to the radio or his expansive record collection. Rick spent many years performing in Vaudvillities in Columbus, Ohio, and enjoyed watching all movies from sci-fi to westerns to musicals. When he wasn’t enjoying time with family, he was in his garden .He was adored by friends and family because of his kind heart. He was known for his friendliness and never hesitated to let people know that he loved them and made room for everyone at his table.
In addition to his parents, Rick is preceded in death by grandparents Carl and Margaret Cosgray, Russell and Mildred Page; aunts Marilyn Grove and Addamay Rousculp; uncle John Grove; cousins Debbie Quelette and Mel Poeppelmeyer.
Left to cherish his memory are his children, Richard Cosgray, Jenny Cosgray, Stephanie Christie and Bobby Christie; his two grandsons Bryson Cosgray and Charlie Osborn; his sisters Chrissi Rousculp and Donna Poeppelmeyer; his brother Kenny Rousculp; nieces Kati Rousculp and Donielle Semp; nephews C.J. Quelette and Derek Quelette along with many extended family members and close friends who were like family to him.
Visitation will be held from 3-5 PM on Saturday, June 11, 2022at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST, 1740 Zollinger Road, Upper Arlington, Ohio 43221, where a Funeral Service will be held at 1 PM on Sunday, June 12, 2022.
