Rita M. Blubaugh

Rita M. Blubaugh, 82, of Kingston, passed away Thursday, February 3, 2011 at Berger Hospital. She was born August 21, 1928 in Circleville, the daughter of Howard C. and Mary C. (Butts) Rhoads. Rita was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Circleville. She graduated from Pickaway Twp. High School in 1946 and from St. Francis School of Nursing in 1949. A registered nurse, Rita worked at Berger Hospital for many years and later at Pickaway County Health Department She enjoyed crocheting, birdwatching and following her two favorite teams, the Cincinnati Reds and OSU basketball. Her pies were always a hit with the family when they gathered for holiday meals and she enjoyed being surrounded by her children and grandchildren.

Rita is survived by her children, Susan M. (Joseph Ciardiello) Blubaugh of Milford, NJ, Dennis (Tonya) Blubaugh of Kingston, James Christopher (Roseanne) Blubaugh of Evansville, IN, Paula J. (Neil) Overman of Weatherby, MO and Mary (Kenneth) Higginbotham of Circleville; grandchildren, Jillian, Kathryn, Kelly, Scott, Carl Joseph, Frank, Alex and Lisa Blubaugh, Cory (Amanda) Overman and Andrea Overman, Hayden and William Higginbotham; sisters, Alma Binkley and Martha Jane (Joe) White; sisters-in-law, Mary Margaret Rhoads, Esther Rhoads, Martha Jane Rhoads and Lurose Rhoads; many nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Carl Edward Blubaugh; sons, Michael Edward and Carl Vincent; brothers, John, Daniel Howard, Robert, David, Neil and Frank Rhoads; and sister, Beatrice Blubaugh. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 8, 2011, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 134 W. Mound St., Circleville, with Fr. Stephen Krile, celebrant. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Circleville. Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday at Defenbaugh-Wise-Schoedinger Funeral Home, 151 E.
