Rita M. McCann

Rita Herderick McCann, age 83 of Columbus, passed away Saturday, July 24, 2010 at Forest Hills Center in Columbus, Ohio. Rita was born October 5, 1926 in German Village in Columbus, Ohio, daughter of the late Leo and Annamary (Baker) Herderick. She graduated from Rosary High School, Class of 1944, where she then went onto graduate from the Mt Carmel School of Nursing, Class of 1948. Throughout her life, Rita had the opportunity to experience much love, friendship and joy. She enjoyed entertaining, playing the piano, swimming, shopping and talking with family and friends. She will be missed by her loving husband of 60 years, Richard P. McCann; children, Brian McCann, Terrence (Nancy) McCann, Kathryn (James) Tuthill, Richard P. (Christy) McCann, Jr., Colleen (Stephen) Buzza, and Leo (Crystal) McCann; grandchildren, Noah McCann, Leah McCann, Bethany (Jeffrey) Hoover, Patrick McCann, Richard Paul McCann III, Allison McCann, Andrew McCann, Erin Buzza, and Elise Buzza; sister, Delores “Mitzi” (Bert) Derouaux; nephew, Mark (Eloisa) Derouaux; niece, Ann Derouaux (Dan) Welch; and many other extended family members and dear friends. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 A.M. Wednesday, July 28, 2010 at Church of the Resurrection, 6300 E. Dublin-Granville Rd. Family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. Tuesday at SCHOEDINGER NORTHEAST CHAPEL, 1051 E. Johnstown Ave. Father Jerome P. Rodenfels Celebrant. Interment St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
