

Bob passed in peace Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at the age of 92. He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia and long-time special friend Helen Berger. Bob was born in Columbus, Ohio on October 11th, 1925 to Leo and Helen Armbrust. Bob left high school to enlist in the Navy at the beginning of World War II where he served on a destroyer escort, the USS Cross, in the Pacific Theater. He later reenlisted in the Navy and retired in 1967. During his years of Military service, Bob and his family lived abroad in many different countries including Cuba and later Japan. Following military service, Bob joined the Ohio State University as an electronics technician where he spent many weekends working at home football games. He later retired from the Ohio State University and continued to raise his family in north Columbus. Bob is survived by his son Gary (Linda) Armbrust; granddaughters, Lisa (Trent) Webb and Sarah (Steven) Simmons of Westerville, Ohio; second son, Robert Lee (Pat) Armbrust of Des Moines, Iowa; and grandsons Robert Lyle (Tina) Armbrust of spring Hill, Tennessee, Philip (Shannon) Armbrust of Huntsville, Alabama; and daughter, Deborah (Douglas) Colston and granddaughter Kelly Frank of Chesapeake, Virginia. Bob was the great-grandfather of 8 great grandchildren; Kendall, Caitlyn, and Noah Webb; Grady Simmons; Jacob Armbrust; Ruby Armbrust, and Jordan and Mason Frank. Family will receive friends from 9-10 am Saturday, April 7, 2018 at SCHOEDINGER NORTH CHAPEL, 5554 Karl Road, Columbus Ohio 43229, where a funeral service will immediately follow at 10 am. Interment will follow in procession to Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, 5600 East Broad Street, Columbus, Ohio.
