Robert J. (Bob) Egle, 66, of Upper Arlington, died peacefully at home June 5 surrounded by his family and canine companion Ringo. He is preceded in death by his parents Elizabeth (Betty Miller) Egle and Captain Arthur Egle, brother Art, and special grandmother Catherine (Mods) Keepers. He is survived by his wife of 33 years Liane, their children Lauren of Columbus, and Dylan of Ann Arbor, MI, sister Judy (Vinny) Fieseler of Lavallette, NJ, brother Jim (Judy) Egle of Roanoke, VA, many beloved nieces and nephews, and a large circle of dear friends. Bob moved to Columbus from New York City in 1988. Liane joined him in Columbus following their marriage in 1989, and they have been active members of the Upper Arlington community ever since. After graduating from the University of Maryland, Bob launched a four-decade career in video and film, starting at WWBT-TV in Richmond, VA, then moving to ICM Films in New York City. An opportunity to be lead director at the film and video production house SOS Productions brought him to Columbus. Bob later launched production companies of his own, including Flying Fish Productions and Tell Collective. He worked with elite actors, superstar athletes, CEOs, community leaders, and everyday people to tell stories through film that earned him numerous national, regional, and local awards of excellence, including many Addy, Telly, and Monitor Awards. He also put his skills to work for good, lifting up nonprofits, and traveling the world to illuminate the struggles of children and families in need. Bob had a lifelong passion for writing, performing, producing, and listening to music. His live performances took him from bars on the New Jersey shore to the stages of ComFest in Columbus. He spent scores of happy hours jamming with friends and creating music in his home studio. His adventurous spirit led him to be certified as a scuba diver, to complete the New York City Marathon, to own a Harley Davidson motorcycle, and to swim with stingrays in the Cayman Islands. His raucous laugh and deep love of family and friends will be deeply missed by many. His inappropriate jokes will be missed by a select few. Family will receive friends Sunday, June 11 from 2pm-6pm at Schoedinger Northwest, 1740 Zollinger Rd., Columbus OH 43221. Funeral Mass will be held Monday, June 12 at 10:30am at St. Andrew Parish, 1899 McCoy Road, Columbus OH 43220. Friends and family who wish to honor Bob with a donation can direct their gifts to the St. Andrew School Tuition Assistance Fund at St. Andrew Parish.
