Robert Hamilton

Robert C. “Bob” Hamilton, age 89, of Whitehall, passed away Friday, September 15, 2023 in Gahanna, Ohio. Bob was born January 13, 1934 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, son of the late Carl “Bud” and Laura (Shakstad) Hamilton. He was a retired machinist with the City of Columbus for over 30 years. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Ilean; children, Carl Bud “Butch” (Johanna) Hamilton, Dorothy Hamilton (fiancé, Mark Kobi), Ellen Estes (fiancé, Elmer Howard) and Debra Stanley; grandchildren, Jenn, Kyle (Meagan), RC (Angel), Jason, Jessica, Sarah, Jeremy (Loretta), Jaime (Rita), Trinity, Shelly (Craig), and Daniel; great grandchildren, Zach, Hayden, Isabelle, Neven, Lilly, Michael, Jonathan, Aiden, Braydon, Bentley, Carlos, Brendin, Kyson, Julianna, Kayden, Harley, Lucy, Hope, Ryleigh, Dylan, Chastity, Haili, Cayden, Ethan, Christian, Ally, Dalton, Carson, and Abigail; great great grandchildren, Gabby, Kasen, Frankie, Abby, Xavier, Arielle, Keaton and Iyanna; brothers, Richard “Dick” Hamilton and Charles “Skip” (Catherine) Hamilton; sister Shirley Anderson; in laws, Linda Dixon and Ted Chandler; Criswell families, other relatives, and many friends. Besides his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his half- sister, Delores and her husband Paul Criswell; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Gerald “Jerry” and Eleanor Dixon; brothers-in-law, Gerald “Buddy” Dixon and Phillip Anderson; nephews, Bradley Anderson and Wayne Humphries; sister-in-law, Scharolyn “Sherri” Chandler; brother-in-law, Gregory “Chicken” Stanley and grandchild, Jodi. Bob was the World Indoor Three Quarter Midget Champion in 1964 and could always be found helping others out working on their race cars. He placed his family first and foremost always there to do whatever was needed whether that was being Mr. Fixit or just playing with his beloved grandkids.

Funeral Service will be held 3:00 pm Thursday, September 21, 2023 at SCHOEDINGER EAST, 5360 E. Livingston Avenue, Columbus, OH 43232, where family and friends may call from 1-3 pm Thursday. Private interment Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
