Robert Jerry Maurer, age 80, passed away Tuesday, March 1, 2022 at Riverside Methodist Hospital. He was born in Painesville, Ohio on November 29, 1941 to the late Robert F. and Eunice (Manus) Maurer. Bob graduated from Painesville Harvey High School and attended Columbus State Community College. He proudly served in the United States Navy, Chief Petty Officer (Retired). Bob served three tours in Vietnam. After retirement, he worked for the Department of Defense, Civilian Retiree (Police officer and Defense Finance and Accounting Services). He was a model train enthusiast, attended train shows, and enjoyed visiting train museums. Bob is survived by friend, Jerry Gruber; nephew, David O. Bartlett; first cousins, Thomas J. Manus (Layton), John W. Jagelski (Peggy), Michael A. Jagelski (Chris), and Gary W. Head (Linda). Graveside service will be held 12 noon Saturday, March 5, 2022 at Mentor Cemetery, Mentor, Ohio 44060.
