Jerry is preceded in death by parents, Harry and Daisy Richardson, brothers Harry and Bud Richardson, sisters, Irene (Floyd) Cox and Margie (Chuck) Borland.
Jerry is survived by his wife of nearly 63 years, Phyllis (Lusch) Richardson; his children, Robert (Annette) Richardson, Todd (Natalie) Richardson and Kim (Van) Frasher; his grandchildren, Zach Richardson, Niki (Adam) Byard, Arnie (Chloe) Richardson, Emily Richardson, Kassie and Cole Frasher, Tyler and Austin Viers; and great grandson, Beckam Byard along with other extended family and friends who he considered family.
Born in Columbus, OH on December 20, 1938 to Harry and Daisy Richardson, he graduated from South High School in 1957 and worked in a variety of positions for the Rimrock Corporation before starting Richardson Sales, Ltd. He married Phyllis on August 23, 1958, and a few years later, they welcomed their first son, and thus began Jerry's proudest legacy… his family.
Family was everything to Jerry and he instilled that reverence in his children. While he may have traveled abroad with Phyllis, Jerry dearly loved his time with loved ones. Cross-country trips to Phoenix and Myrtle Beach. Numerous camping trips in between. And a home at Apple Valley Lake that he said was "the best thing I ever did… It kept the kids close and the grandkids closer."
Jerry was a compass - always guiding his family with character, ethics and integrity - as well as a comic -- quick with a joke or good-natured teasing followed by a belly laugh that made you laugh right along. His "golf course exclamations" were legendary, and something his sons and grandsons will laugh about for years to come. He will be deeply missed by all those blessed to have known him.
Calling Hours will be held Monday, August 16 from 5 - 7 pm and Tuesday, August 17 from 11:30am to 12:30pm at Schoedinger Northeast, 1051 Johnstown Rd. in Gahanna. Funeral service is at 12:30pm with interment at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens to follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jerry's name to Stonybrook United Methodist Church, 485 Cherrybottom Road in Gahanna or Hospice-Mt.Carmel Foundation, 6150 E. Broad Street, Columbus.
