Born November 16, 1952 in Columbus, Ohio.
Passed away October 15, 2020 after battling serious health conditions for many years.
Parents were Emmett and Ollie Mae Walker.
Rob graduated from East High School in 1971. He went on to graduate from Central State University in 1978 with a B.A. in Political Science, where he clearly learned the art of the good debate. He was very proud to have written plays that CSU picked up and produced for the general public, with Rob acting and directing.
Rob first joined the Army Reserves, then went active duty in the Army from 1981-88 during the Cold War. Air Assault! He was extremely proud of his time in the military as a Military Policeman. He served with great memories and stories of his brothers and sisters in arms in the 127th MP Company. He served at many posts, with Fort Campbell and Hanau, Germany being places he told of the best friendships and other antics.
After the military, Rob's career always centered on positions serving the public in safety and crime prevention. He became a private investigator, going undercover in many companies to uncover issues and help resolve problems. He was especially effective at changing the lives of many men during his years as the Director of the Men's Shelter at Faith Mission in downtown Columbus. He became the Manager of Safety and Crime Prevention for the Columbus Metropolitan Housing Authority, keeping hundreds of families safe and secure for many years with his attention to problems and diligence for the people.
Rob received numerous honors and achievements over the years, always for his dedication, perseverance, and outstanding service to those in need.
Rob was very involved with his children over the years, coaching in many capacities for youth rec baseball, basketball and football teams in Bexley, Columbus, Whitehall and Pickerington. He was very competitive and taught the kids how to overcome any obstacles as a team and reach their goals together.
Rob was the first with an opinion, and the first to lend a kind hand to anyone who needed it. He loved his country, and the time he spent with his brothers in arms to defend it. He was an old movie buff, loving black and white films and any war movie ever made. He identified with Audie Murphy and appreciated Ingrid Bergman. His conservative political views were something he loved to argue with any of his friends or family who would listen. He researched everything he saw and heard, and wanted the truth in all situations to be spread far and wide. He was a writer and a defender of justice. Rob loved the Lord our God with all his might, and shared that love with everyone near and far, on Twitter and in person. We have no doubt his health has been restored and he is with his family and friends before him on the streets of gold in heaven. He taught us all to be fiercely independent and to always defend truth. To stand for something, whatever the cost. Rob was a principled man, and he stood tall on the mountains he built. Rob loved and supported his family tremendously. He is already missed beyond measure, his absence in our lives is so great.
Rob is preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Charles Walker, Albert (Ricky) Walker, and Jerry Walker, his sister Delores (Anna) Younge. Rob is survived by his wife of almost 24 years, Susan Coccia Walker; his children Robert Walker, Jr. of Columbus, Jasmine (Bruce) Cyprien, of Cincinnati, Ryan Walker, Tyler Walker and Megan Walker, all of New Albany/Gahanna; his grandchildren Ciara, Tre, Serena and Camryn; brothers William Walker of Chicago, Larry (Manana) Walker S. of Indianapolis and sister Shirley Walker of Pickerington; numerous aunts, uncles, special sister-in laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends that he made everywhere he went.
