

Roger M. Murphy, age 66, passed away Tuesday, August 16, 2011 from early onset Alzheimer’s. He was born in Omaha, NE on April 9, 1945, raised in Madison City, Iowa by loving parents Doris and Frank Murphy and siblings Gary (Jan) Murphy LA, CA, Barbara Murphy of Vancouver, WA. Rog went on to graduate in engineering from University of Missouri in 1965. He served in the Army 2nd Lieutenant Officer in the Vietnam War 1968-1971. Roger received his MBA in 1973 from Michigan State University. He moved to Columbus, Ohio and met his loving wife Pam (Williamson). They were married in 1974. Roger began his land development career at Wallick Construction CO. and then almost 20 years as a Vice President of Land Development at MI Homes. He dedicated much time serving and being on the Board of Franklin CO. MRDD, Ohio Special Olympics and Creative Housing in honor of his son, Ryan. He was an avid runner. He ran in 8 marathons. He loved music especially Buddy Holly. He enjoyed photography, flying airplanes, wearing bow ties, and shoes with no socks! Roger leaves behind his dedicated wife, Pam Murphy; children, , Nicole (Ryan) Braet, Brooke (John) Brock, and Ryan Murphy; mother, Doris Murphy; grandchildren, Carter, Sophie, Emerson, Cooper Braet, and baby Brock due in December. He was preceded in death by his father, Frank Murphy. Roger was one of a kind- big laughs and lots of love! He will forever be remembered by all those he touched and his dedication to those with special needs. In lieu of flowers the family asks friends to consider giving donations to Ohio Special Olympics, Franklin County Young Adult Services, or The Alzheimer’s Assoc.
