Ronald Douglas Brooks, 79, of Columbus, Ohio passed away on June 16 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born on January 28th, 1946, in London, England to an American G.I., Douglas Brooks and his English war bride, Pamela Stacey. Ron graduated from Austin Catholic Prep School in Detroit, Michigan in 1964 and went on to serve in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam war. He then attended The Ohio State University where he graduated with honors in 1971.
Ron met the love of his life, Deborah Shellenbarger, at a Buckeye football game and they were married one year later. Many will remember Ron as a gifted businessman, respected mentor and friend. Beginning his career with the Ohio Company, Ron went on to start several entrepreneurial endeavors, eventually co-founding Stonehenge Financial Holdings in 1999. Ron was an avid sports fan. He loved to play golf and closely followed his favorite teams: The Buckeyes, the Detroit Tigers, Lions, and Red Wings. His greatest joy was spending his winters on Sanibel Island with his friends and his summers in Northern Michigan with his family. He was a collector of art, world traveler, and a talented writer.
Above all, he was a loving husband to Debbie for 54 years, and father to Chris Brooks (Lisa), Amy Burden (Jim), Stacey Brooks and AJ Brooks, and a doting “Bubba” to his 10 grandchildren. Ron will be remembered for a “life well lived.”
