

Ronald Ervin Rhea Sr., age 81, passed away January 6, 2015 at Grant Medical Center following complications from pneumonia, with his sons by his side and surrounded by family who loved him. Born June 23, 1933, to Lena (nee Giles) and Virgil Rhea Sr., he was a 1951 graduate of East High School. After high school, he enlisted and honorably served in the United States Army. Ron then proudly received his Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Kent State University, and worked as an Auditor for the Federal Government for more than 30 years. Ronald was an active member of St. Philip Episcopal Church, serving on their Vestry and acting as church auditor/accountant. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, playing golf, watching sports, being social and raising a glass, and entertaining others with his many stories and jokes. Preceded in death by his beloved parents; sister Dixie Rhea; brother Virgil Rhea Jr.; and first wife Josephine Rhea (nee Gibbs). Survived by their children and grandchildren: sons Ronald Rhea Jr. and Joseph (Linh) Rhea, granddaughter Kayla, grandsons Evan, Elijah, Ethan, and Eidan; as well as his loving sister Beverly Boyde; and many nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends. The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. on Tuesday, January 13 at Schoedinger Midtown Chapel, 229 E State St., Columbus OH. Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday January 14 at St. Philip Episcopal Church, 166 Woodland Ave., Columbus OH 43203; where the family will receive friends after 9 a.m. until time of service.
