She was born September 1, 1940 in Radcliff, Ohio, the daughter of Fletcher and Sylvia (Pierce) Sizemore. Preceding Rose in death are spouse Theodore (Ted) Werntz; grandson Theo Werntz; parents, Fletcher & Sylvia Sizemore; brothers, Loren Barber, Roger Pierce; sister, Jean Cremeans.
Rose was a resident of Groveport, OH where she lived for over 40 years; the last six years she resided at Tuscany Gardens, Pataskala, OH. The family is grateful for the Tuscany staff who cared for our mother, she wasn’t just a resident, she was family and that was evident by their love and compassion in caring for her.
Rose had a thirst for life and set out to explore the world outside of her hometown at an early age. As a teenager, she sang country music with Bobby Bare on a Wellston radio station. Rose then ventured to Indiana with a girlfriend in 1960 and met the love of her life, a Marine named Ted Werntz. Rose was a server at a drive-in cafe where she spilled coffee on Ted's lap. Three weeks later they were married. They moved to North Carolina to start their life together, and shortly thereafter, Ted got deployed. As a Vietnam veteran's wife, Rose was actively involved in supporting the Vietnam MIA/POW movement. She frequently attended fundraisers and even protested at the White House.
Rose especially loved the ocean and would vacation in NC every opportunity she could. She loved nature, and being outside. Slate Run Metro Park in Canal Winchester was another favorite place where she would spend hours with her grandchildren exploring the park. She also enjoyed gardening, bird-watching, relaxing on her back deck, and reading a good book.
More than anything, she treasured spending time with her family, especially the little ones. She hosted many summer barbeques and holiday dinners (no plastic ware permitted). She lived a simple life filled with family and friends and left a legacy of love for all who knew her to carry forward. May she join the angels and watch over us all.
Rose is survived by her children; Ralph Werntz of Norfolk, VA , Theda (Don) Rioux of Upper Sandusky, OH, Sally Freeburn of Battlecreek, MI, Jennifer Burns of New Concord, OH, Jannette (Vashawn) White of Blacklick, OH; grandchildren, Nicholas (Jessica) Burns, Crystal Werntz, Alicia Werntz, James Burns, Ramal McCarrel, Janecia McCarrel, Rondale McCarrel II, Shannon O’Harra-Werntz, Logan Goundrill; great-grandchildren, Tyler Lauranzon, Sebastjan Burns, Carolyn Burns, Nj Black, Noah McCarrel, Mia Blust, Jonah McCarrel, Mikah Burns, Isabelle Ritter, Liani McCarrel, Leovani McCarrel; sisters, Frances Dobner, Effie Mae Martin and many nieces and nephews.
