The first memory that comes to mind when I think of my cousin Roy is when he backed his HUGE semi truck up my driveway for a surprise visit! I remember him calling my mom (his Aunt Debbie) and saying Deb, I'm right down the street and want to stop by... we waited anxiously thinking there was no way he would get that big truck up our hilly gravel driveway...but we were wrong! That night he gave me and my sister a tour of the truck bed and I couldn't believe there was actually a twin size bed in the back! 

Although this is a silly story it really is a fond memory of mine and of my cousin that I didn't get the chance to know very well. Sadly living 2 hours away makes frequent visits difficult and time fly too quickly. I hope that Candy, Roy Jr., and Brian find peace soon and know that there are so many people that truely love and care for all of them. I feel certain that my Nick (RIP 5/25/08) greeted Roy with a smile and hug!

Roy and I often shared the roadway as he operated his big rig and I my vehicle on weekly trips between Toledo and Columbus.  We shared many thoughts and good laughs while talking on the radio.  Roy was always friendly and a pleasure to talk to, willing to help anyone at any time.  Roy was a true Ham and a gentleman.  Those who had the pleasure of knowing Roy will never forget the wonderful person he was, the pride in his wife and family that he always spoke of and that cheerful sound of his voice on the air.  
 
Rest in peace dear friend, your work here is done and the legacy you have left us will not be forgotten.

Roy Walls Is a friend of mine, I think he is still watching us all and smiling.
I first met Roy via Cb and Ham radio back in late 80’s.
Man the times and the fun together. From all the ham radio festivals, to talking for hours at a time while he was out west driving keeping him company months at a time on a daily basis.

Roy meant a lot to me he was my brother and that was his typical greeting to me was: "brother Mike how are Ya."

We had a great time with him and Candy bowling. And the two little quarter moochers Roy Jr. and Brian at the-bowling  alley that made sure that Vickie and I Never left with any quarters in our pockets. The vending machines made money those nights.

Roy Jr. and Brian should be very proud of their father. They were blessed to have him as a father. He was a great role model he did everything with you two guys in mind, stand tall!

I have to many good experiences to offer they could fill a book so I will make the last statement. I know there were a lot of people helping Roy. But nothing like the two angels that carefully and lovingly took care of him till his last day, Thanks to Candy and his mom and anyone who helped Roy.  

Thanks to all of his family for letting me be in his life it was a pleasure.

Roy was always my hero. Met Roy and his family years ago via Ham Radio and had trucking in common. He had everything, great wife Candy, two wonderful sons, and all the toys. At first I thought he was just given all these things but after getting to know him over the years I found out that he worked, and worked hard for it all. I was never sure what he enjoyed more, his family, trucking or radio. Or maybe his race car. Or maybe his 3 best furry friends. 
I have so many great memories of Roy and our times together. From the time the wife and I made a trip to Columbus and saw the new puppy family or the last special trip that was made to help set up his last HF radio and getting to meet his dear mother that worked with him and watched over him so much the last months trying to help make his days more enjoyable.
He was able to combine both his trucking and radio, so to have the best of both those worlds. I remember so well his trucking stories from his first truck, knew him when he had his last 2 trucks. From his start with the "Cracker Box" GMC stories, to the getting nearly hit by lightning one day on his run from Columbus to Toledo, to his love of working high speed CW while driving in the truck, 
Roy always had lots of memories to share. Even over the last few months I could always count on calling Roy and having fun sharing stories we remembered about the "good old days". I will really miss these stories with him. Roy you will be missed and will always stand as one of my hero's. You always gave me a higher target to aim for. So sorry that health issues ended the life he so enjoyed living.
Candy, our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this time.

To Candy and the boys, I am so sad to hear of your loss.  Mike and I knew Roy through Ham Radio and even though it has been many years since we had seen Roy at the Hamvention, I always look forward to your Christmas cards Candy, keeping us up to date on what is happening in your lives.  I have such fond memories of when we lived on SR 68 in Arlington and Roy would honk at our house as he travelled along in his truck!  

There are so many things to do in life, that we all get busy and just don't find the time for everything.  (I'm sure you know how busy three boys can keep you!)  A couple of summers ago we bought a popup camper.  As I was searching for weekend trips, somehow I happened upon a campground near Grove City while looking online.  I've never been there, but one of my comments was "if we go to this one, we could stop in and see Roy."  I didn't know what was in Grove City, but when I saw it on the map I thought of Roy!  You don't know how much now I wish we had actually made that trip.  Something came up as usual and we didn't end up finding the time to get away at all.  

Please know that we are thinking of you in this terribly difficult time.

I have the fondest memories of Roy and Candy. Mike and I have known them for years first through Ham radio, then we were bowling buddies. Roy Jr. and Brian were little boys then and we used to so enjoy seeing both Roy and Candys smiling faces when we would arrive at the bowling alley on Saturday night.

I remember Roy as a wise, kind, and humourous man. He made a comment to me once that made a great imapct on my life. I said something once that I should NOT have said and he said in his customary drawl "you could have gone all day without saying that". I gave it some thought and knew that he was right. Thereafter I kept what Roy said in mind before I opened my mouth (or tried to)!  

I have the greatest respect for both Roy and Candy. They both have gone through their struggles with great courage. They are the best example of what love, courage,  and true unselfishness is all about.

I had the pleasure of knowing Roy almost 24 years.   We lost contact though the years and rediscovered a long fruitfull relationship of years past, renewing old memories, fun times and down right guy busting laughter.  I am so thankfull that over the last 12-14 months that friendship rediscovered itself as if  time had never passed since the last time I had scene Roy.  My dear friend has left us for a better place.  Leaving behind memories, great thoughts, and the best of times we were able to spend together.  I always knew Roy as a person willing to share love, laughter, knoweldge, and life's experiences.   You will always be thought of often, sadly missed and always in my mind and heart.   May you rest in peace my friend and find God's warm reception in Heaven to be a perfect harmony for which you justly deserve!!!  and May God comfort your family and friends.
