Ruby Marie Wright-Smith

Ruby Marie Wright-Smith went to be with the Lord early Saturday morning, April 17, 2010. Born in Glenwood, Kentucky January 28, 1914, and brought to Columbus, Ohio at the age of 2 where her father worked for Norfolk and Southern Railroad. Pre-deceased by father and mother, Finnie and Malissa Wright, sisters Pearl Wright and Opal Weed, brother Rutherford Wright, husband Pearl Smith, and son Eugene Smith. Survived by sister Garnet Serrott, grandchildren Cheryl (Steven) Douglass, Philip (Pamela) Smith, Craig (Joy) Smith, Kevin (Kristine) Smith, and great-grandchildren Matthew (Amanda) Douglass, Sarah Douglass, Haley Smith, Gunnar Smith, Emma Smith, Michael Smith, Margaret Smith, Valecia Howard, Jeremy Howard, great-great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was a member of North Church of Christ in Christian Union for over 60 years (class 15), and over 50 year member of Eastern Star Triangle (chapter 592). Ruby graduated from Office Training School at Bliss College. She worked on the assembly line for Curtis Wright and then as a secretary for the Columbus Police Department, as well as for Franklin County Municipal Court. Ruby will be greatly missed by her family and loved ones. Our loss is Heaven's gain! Family will receive friends Tuesday from 4-7 PM at SCHOEDINGER NORTH CHAPEL, 5554 Karl Rd. where a funeral service will be held Wednesday at 10 AM. OES service Tuesday at 6:30 PM.
