Ruth M. Eckstein

Ruth M. Eckstein, age 83, passed away peacefully on September 12, 2014. She was born May 13, 1931 in Columbus, Ohio to the late Joseph and Mary Neubeck. She attended St. Leo Grade School and South High School. While working at Pfeifer Printing she met Joseph R. Eckstein and accepted his hand in marriage on April 14, 1951. Ruth retired from the Bureau of Motor Vehicles, where she was affectionately known as "Admiral" after 26 years of service. In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by two daughters, Karen and Anne. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Joseph; children, Mary Jo (Jim) Grove, Mike (Lisa), Bob (Judy), Jim (Jan), Chuck (Nancy), Ruth (Steve) Weber, Joe (Amanda) and John (Theresa); grandchildren, Richard Grove, Erin Grove, AJ Grove, Tiffany Wolf, Matt Eckstein, Autumn Eckstein, Rob Eckstein, Allie (Seth "Zeth") Nickolas, Laura (Sean) Hagedorn, Angela (Chris) Miller, Michael Eckstein, Tommy Weber, Elizabeth Weber, Jessica Weber, Ashley (Shane) Guilfoyle, Andrew (Jolene) Eckstein, Ben Eckstein, Chuck Harber, John (Whitney) Eckstein and Kelly Eckstein; great-grandchildren Ryan Hagedorn, Addison Hagedorn, Jacob Miller, Elise Eckstein, Isaac Eckstein, Camie Harber and Tori Harber; sisters, Joan Ramsey and Helen Rodenfels; extended family and friends. Friends may pay their respects from 1-3pm and 5-8pm (Prayer Service at 7:30pm) Tuesday, September 16, 2014 at Schoedinger East Chapel, 5360 E. Livingston Ave., Columbus, OH 43232. Catholic Mass 10:30am Wednesday, September 17, 2014 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 4383 E. Broad St., Columbus, OH 43213 with burial to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery; Msgr. Anthony Missimi, Celebrant. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Holy Spirit Catholic Church, where Ruth was a long-time member.
