Ruth was born on December 1, 1932, in Lawton, West Virginia. She worked for The Ohio State University as a Bacteriologist for 25 years before retiring. After retirement, she continued serving others while working at Rite Aid and H&R Block, always greeting people with kindness and patience.
Her greatest joy was to her faith in God and her family. She was a member of Oakley Full Gospel Baptist Church, where she faithfully served since 1964. Ruth was more than a member—she was a pillar of the church. She served as a devoted Deaconess, Board President for six years, Sunday School Teacher, choir member, and was active in Women’s Day services. She was a woman who not only professed her Christianity but walked it daily. Her life reflected her faith in her words, her service, her generosity, and the love she extended to others. She led by example, prayed without ceasing, and encouraged many through her steady and unwavering commitment to Christ.
Ruth loved to read, complete crossword puzzles, spend precious time with her family, and travel to visit loved ones in Atlanta, Virginia, Pennsylvania, and Cleveland. Her greatest joy was her family, whom she supported with wisdom, prayer, and unconditional love.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert T. and Gladys Biggers; her son, David Staples; her siblings, Kenneth Biggers, Henry Bridges, Sherman Biggers, Marva Mabe, Gladys Golden, Elizabeth Biggers, Erthalene Biggers and Emma Middlebrooks; and the father of her children, Staley Staples.
