

Ryan Michael Sykes, age 32, died suddenly on January 14, 2012. He was born January 3, 1980 in Columbus, Ohio to James Michael and Roxann Elizabeth (Frazee) Sykes. Ryan was a 1998 graduate of Worthington Christian High School and a Life Scout. He continued his education at The Ohio State University where he earned a BS in Textile Design in 2005. He followed his dream of living in Colorado and then joined the U.S. Army, which allowed him the opportunity to experience the great outdoors, from Alaska to Hawaii. He was a parachute rigger and was part of the 4th Quarter Master Detachment (Airborne) stationed at Ft. Richardson in Anchorage, AK. Ryan will be forever remembered for his wonderful sense of humor and love for his friends and family. He is survived by his parents, James and Roxann Sykes; sisters, Brittany (John) Zaharopoulos and Lauren (Dennis) Maykowski and his beautiful niece, Ava Maykowski; also surviving are his grandmother, Helen Frazee; uncles, Doug Frazee and Joshua Sykes; aunts, Robin (Scott) Grimsley and Candi Sykes; numerous cousins, other relatives and friends. Family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 Friday, January 20, 2012 at Schoedinger North Chapel, 5554 Karl Rd., Columbus, OH 43229 where services will be held Saturday at 10am; Pastor Tim Waggoner (Grace Brethren Church), officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in Blendon Central Cemetery.
