Sandra Sarkkinen Hayes

Sandra Sarkkinen Hayes, age 77 of Orient passed away Monday, June 1, 2020 at Grant Medical Center. Sandra was born October 21, 1942 at Staten Island, NY to the late Esco and Freda Sarkkinen. She graduated from University High School as well as The Ohio State University where she earned her degree in Dental Hygiene. She was employed as a dental hygienist for 30 years in Central Ohio. Sandra loved horse and was an active member of the Ohio Half Arabian Horse Association. She was a member of the OSU Alumni Association and was a scarlet and gray to the core OSU fan. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Christy. Sandra is survived by her children Kristen (Jeffrey) Benson, Audra Hayes, and Christian (Gail) Hayes; and her grandchildren Kyle Esco Benson, Ava Claire Hayes, and Gavin Charles Benson. Family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 PM Friday at Schoedinger Grove City 3920 Broadway. Due to the COVID -19 Pandemic, the number of guests in the funeral home will be limited to 25 at one time. Guests are respectfully asked to wear masks to ensure safety for everyone attending. A funeral procession will form at the funeral home 11:15 AM Saturday, June 6 to take Sandra to Green Lawn Cemetery for her committal service at 12 PM. Sandra's family invites you to wear OSU clothing to both the visitation and committal service.
