Our beloved Sean Adamcak Dunkel passed away April 25, 2026, after a brief illness. He was born on May 12,1993 and was raised in Columbus Ohio. His passing was sudden and devastating to all who knew and loved him.
Sean had many loves in his life and first on the list was Lauren Hill. They married in 2020 and enjoyed their life together -- especially their new house and their shared love of animals. Cale, Isla and Jade are their current pack.
Sean was a gregarious, outgoing young man with a loud boisterous laugh who made friends wherever he went. One of his many passions in his life was music – songwriting, guitar and drums. Those of us lucky enough to hear him perform were amazed by his fantastic voice, his original music and rock and roll classics, often played with his band, Seagraves.
He loved entertaining people with his talent. One of his joys was meeting family and friends at their annual beach vacation on Tybee Island, Georgia. There, his musical talent was on full display during nightly sing-alongs. Now that he is gone, hearing songs such as Wagon Wheel, American Pie and Country Roads will forever bring a smile to his wife, mom, cousins, aunts, uncles and friends.
Sean owned and managed Dunkel Company Realtors, which was founded by his father, David Dunkel, in 1985. The role suited him well, combining hands-on operations with long-term planning. He always said one of the things he loved most about the job was that it kept him close to his father’s memory.
Anyone who knew Sean realized how much he loved the farm, the Double D Ranch. His family moved there when he was in the 5th grade. It was a perfect spot for a rambunctious youngster. His involvement in 4-H taught him responsibility and to care for livestock. He and his dad enjoyed riding their horses together and exploring the property. As an adult it was his refuge from city life. Fishing, shooting skeet with his favorite guns, playing music, riding 4-wheelers and motorcycles were his weekend pastimes. Sean shared his love of it with his family and friends.
His prized possessions were his truck and his Mustang. His love of all vehicles started as a child when he became fascinated with NASCAR. One of his favorite pastimes as an adult was watching his favorite driver #22 Joey Logano.
After high school, Sean joined the Homer fire department as a volunteer firefighter. He wanted to give back to his community, and he found fellowship with his fellow firefighters. This work satisfied his sense of adventure and his desire to help those in need.
Sean will be remembered for his strength, loyalty, humor, creativity and the deep love for those close to him, especially Lauren, his mother Christine and his in-laws Bob and Debbie Hill. He leaves behind a profound absence and a legacy of resilience, kindness and heartfelt connection.
Sean is survived by his beloved wife, Lauren; his mother, Christine Adamcak Dunkel; and his parents-in-law, Debbie and Bob Hill; Emma and Jack Hill. He is also lovingly remembered by his grandmothers, Elvira Adamcak and Beverley Dunkel. Other relatives include Richard and Nancy Dunkel; Ryan, Rachel and Max Dunkel; Jordan, Katie, Zoey and Isabelle Dunkel; Michelle and Greg Adamcak-Allers; Marika, Darrin and Benette Allers-Humphrey; Nicki and Michael Allers - Lauritzen; Patty Adamcak; Sandy and Richard Adamcak- Forrestel; Jack, Olive and Emmett Forrestel; Andrea Di Blas; and many dear friends whose lives were enriched by knowing him.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that you consider making a blood donation in Sean's memory.
