Sharon was born in Springfield, OH on June 25, 1938 to the late Sylvanus Albert Hudson and Maxine Dale Weber. Sharon was a mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and devoted wife. She was affectionately called “Mimi” by her 7 grandsons.
Sharon was a graduate of Springfield High School in 1956 and then went on to obtain her bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Wittenburg University in1960. She was a member of the Alpha Delta Pi sorority, an organization that provided her lifelong memories.
Sharon taught kindergarten at Lindbergh Elementary School in Columbus. She was proud of her large, forty pupil kindergarten classrooms. She taught language, music, fitness and art because as she would say, “back then, we did it all”. After teaching, Sharon chose to remain full time raising her 2 children. She enjoyed being a mother immensely.
Sharon loved music. She played the piano and the organ and also enjoyed tap dancing and singing in a choir. Being at home with her family was her happy place. She appreciated her close knit neighborhood and the ability to walk out of her front door to greet friends. She adored Berwyn Road and walks around Northam Park. Sharon would chat with friends and strangers alike. There wasn’t a dog that she wouldn’t pet. She treasured her backyard hammock and would frequently nap while listening to the singing birds and staring up at the tall trees.
Sharon frequently spoke about her childhood and the love of her large extended family of aunts, uncles and cousins. She was very proud of her farming heritage and talked lovingly of her days visiting her family at the farm. Her childhood memories were a source of comfort.
Sharon maintained lifelong friendships from grade school and was blessed by wonderful neighbor friends, a close relationship with her brother Mike and bragged endlessly about her 7 grandsons. Toward the end of her life, Sharon enjoyed learning the names and histories of her special caregivers and spoke about the “angels on earth” that would lovingly care for her. For those people she was most grateful.
A memorial service will be held at 2:30 pm, Thursday, March 12 at Schoedinger Funeral Home in Upper Arlington.
Sharon is survived by her two children, Kristi (Paul) Frenken and Tyler (Julie) Millisor, brother Michael (Sandy) Hudson; 7 grandsons: Robert, Chandler, Harrison, Hudson, Richard, Hayden and Holden; niece Bryn.
