On January 4, 2020, our mother, Sheila Anne Pancamo, passed away. She was born on September 20, 1948 in Buffalo, NY to Thomas George and Rita Marie (McMahon) Croome. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters Kathleen "Kathy" Teeter and Noreen "Nori" (Rick) Perry.
Sheila had a big personality and a big heart. Unconditional love was her currency, and she spent it freely on everyone she cared about. Her laugh could fill a room, and her "colorful" language added texture to any story. Never one to judge or mince words, Sheila would frequently share sage - although sometimes unsolicited - advice. She was a dedicated friend and dependable co-worker during her 30+ years at Cardinal Health. Sheila was proud of her kids, Joe and Julie (Danny), and felt her son-in-law was a great man. She adored her grandchildren, Skyler and Chase. She often said she had no idea how much she needed them in her life until they were there. Cooking and feeding her friends and family brought her great joy. To her, food was a universal remedy for any ailment, and an essential part of any gathering. Her specialties were chicken soup that could have won an award, perfect homemade sauce, melt-in-your-mouth veal cutlets, and the most amazing stuffed artichokes. She also loved Pepsi, eating at Roosters, Olive Garden and Red Lobster.
Sheila will be greatly missed by her children Julie (Danny) Hofsas and Joseph Pancamo II; her much loved and doted on grandchildren Skyler and Chase Hofsas; brother Thomas "Tommy" Croome; brother-in-law Chip Teeter; sister-in-law Christina "Chris" Croome; and several nieces, nephews and other extended family members. In addition to her beloved family, Sheila leaves behind a menagerie of furry family members: Mandy, her miniature schnauzer, "just pleased her"; Hunter, her tiny tiger cat, and Tessa, her sweet and sometimes persnickety tuxedo cat. They all loved snuggling with mom in her bed - especially when she had her electric lap blanket on.
A memorial service celebrating Sheila's life will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2020 at the Schoedinger Worthington Chapel at 11:30am. The family will receive friends from 11am until the time of the service.
