

Shirley E. Dean, age 88, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her family on June 15, 2018. Shirley was born in Louisa, Kentucky to her parents Dockie David and Goldie “Murphy” Blankenship on March 13, 1930. Shirley married her husband George Dean on June 14, 1947 in Circleville and enjoyed 64 years of marriage until his passing in 2011. Shirley retired from cooking in Jackson School after 32 years of loyal service. Shirley loved to craft, and was proud of her talent for quilting, crochet, embroidery and calligraphy. She was a hardworking woman always on the go, but always had time for the most important people in her life; her family and friends. Shirley was a kind soul who will be missed by all who had the privilege to know her.
Shirley is reuniting in heaven with her husband George; her son William Dean; her grandson Dustin Davis; her sisters Helen Justice, Mary Steger and Opal Stevenson; as well as her brothers Walter Blankenship, James Blankenship, and Rodney Blankenship.
Left to mourn her passing is her loving daughter Nancy (Michael Berry) Davis; and her sisters Deanie (Bert) Lester and Gloria Reynolds.
Visitation will be held Thursday, June 21st at Defenbaugh-Wise-Schoedinger Funeral Home, located at 151 East Main Street Circleville, from 3 to 6:30pm. Shirley’s funeral service will follow at 6:30pm with Barry Blankenship officiating. Cremation will take place following the service and Shirley will be buried with her husband in Tarlton Cemetery. The family would also like to give special thanks to the staff of Heartland Hospice for the wonderful care and support they provided.
