

Shirley was born in Reading, Ohio on August 22, 1934 and was the daughter of Edwin Charles Miller and Anna (Gall) Miller. She was married to her husband Edward William Smith (deceased) for over 60 years at the time of his passing in 2017. Together they had 3 children.
Shirley grew up in the Cincinnati area and attended Lockland High School where she graduated in 1952. She then attended The Christ Hospital School of Nursing where she earned her RN certificate in 1955.
Shirley spent most of her career in nursing, beginning in the nursery and final years of her career as a skilled OR nurse and was promoted to OR coordinator of surgery at Riverside Methodist Hospital.
She and her husband and retired and moved to The Villages of Florida where they spent over a decade enjoying the warm weather and many activities of their home before moving back to Columbus, Ohio to be near family until Edward passed. She then moved back to Florida and was surrounded by many dear close friends at The Fountains of Melbourne and to be near her daughter and son until her passing.
Shirley is survived by her loving family; son Steve (Tammy Baxter) Smith, son Gary (deceased 2016) and (Pattie Edwards) Smith; daughter Shelley (Smith) and Ryan Kinnear (deceased); grandchildren Jeremy (Bethannie) Smith, Joshua Smith (Lisa Reid), Noah (Taylor) Smith, Nathan (Miranda) Smith, Janie (Micah) Wahnbaeck, Zachary Carter; great-grandchildren Clayton Smith, Devin Smith, Jayda Reid, Dylan Smith, Crosby Smith, Ella Wahnbaeck, Marie Wahnbaeck, Lukas Wahmbaeck, Cameron Shenington-Gunn, Benjamin Gathye-Smith (Angel Baby), Wyatt Smith, Leo Smith; and brother-in-law John (Marilyn) Kline; nephew Chuck (Sandy) Kline; nephew Bobby Kline (deceased), Sue Bassett; and great nieces and nephews.
Funeral Service will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday, February 13, 2024 at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST, 1740 Zollinger Road, Columbus, Ohio 43221. Interment will be held at Union Cemetery immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O.
