

Silas Edward "Ed" Marcum, aged 88, peacefully passed away on February 14, 2024, surrounded by loved ones. He was born on March 22, 1935, in Verdunville, West Virginia, to the late Hiram and Nancy Marcum.
Silas, or Ed as he was known at work, dedicated many years of his life to service, retiring from The Ohio State University and Bishop Watterson High School. His humor, kindness, and commitment left an indelible mark on those he served. Silas proudly served his country in the Army during the Korean War, demonstrating bravery and valor in defense of freedom.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Monday, February 26, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Advantage Funeral & Cremation Services by Schoedinger - Linden, located at 2741 Cleveland Avenue, Columbus, OH 43224. His Funeral Service will take place on Tuesday, February 27, 2024, at 10:00 AM, followed by interment with Military Honors at Green Lawn Cemetery.
Silas was predeceased by his wife of 54 years, Shirley Marcum, and his beloved daughter, Orlena Mullins Rose. He is survived by his adored dog, Belle; his children, Kathy (Jim) Mullins Arrowood, Patricia Marcum, Brian (Trish) Marcum, and Teresa (Jim) Miller; as well as his brother, Hiram (Janet) Marcum. Additionally, Silas leaves behind 12 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and cherished friends. Family meant everything to him, and his love and warmth will continue to resonate in the hearts of those who knew him.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Silas will be remembered for his unwavering devotion to his family, his dedication to hard work, and his kind spirit that touched the lives of many. May he rest in peace, his memory cherished forever.
