Silvia Berry, age 70, died peacefully in the company of her immediate family at Riverside Hospital June 9, 2021 early in the morning. She is preceded in death by both her parents. She is survived by her husband of over forty years, Dr. Nick Berry of Columbus, her proudest accomplishments in life, daughters Samantha (Ted) Uritus and Jordanna (Nick) Kerns, grandchildren Conrad, Scarlett and Audrey and many cousins and family members in Uruguay and Argentina.
Silvia was born in Paysandú, Uruguay to a loving family. As the selected recipient of a rotary scholarship, Silvia moved to Ohio to attend and complete a Master's in Education at The Ohio State University. She made lifelong friends at her university residence, Jones Tower, and met her forever best friend and true love, Nick. Silvia continued her career in education for over twenty five years working most recently for Worthington City Schools. Until her last moments she continued to stress the importance of providing all children opportunities and access to education. While residing in Columbus for over forty years Silvia made many life long friends whom she considers family. Thank you to everyone who made Ohio her home. While not teaching and in her short retirement Silvia enjoyed hosting friends in her home, vacationing and the sunsets and dinner reservations in Naples, Florida, her paradise.
A funeral mass will take place at St. Andrew Church Saturday June 12th at 10:15am. Entombment to follow at Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of tears, the family asks you to raise a glass of champagne in memory of Silvia.
