

Dr. Stavros Meimaridis, 90, of Columbus, OH and Lorain, OH, died peacefully on April 3. He loved his parents, John and Daphne Meimaridis, of Thessaloniki Greece, where he was born; his wife Madeline, with whom he celebrated a 50th wedding anniversary last year; and his children, John (Annis), Daphne, Peter (Janice) and Eugenia (Greg). Grandchildren Jonathan, Cindy, Mariah, Alex, Austin, Madeline, Stavros, Emily and Alex, great-grandchildren, Madison, Anthony, Braxton and Isabelle made his life complete. Surviving him are the rest of his beloved Greek family, brothers Takis and George, sister Eleftheria, sister-in-law Voula and many nieces, nephews and godchildren. He is predeceased by sister Koula, brother Christos, sisters-in-law Georgia and Niki and brother-in-law Vasili. He loved medicine and helping his patients was not a job but a joy. A patriot to the countries he loved, he served in the Greek army medical corps as a young man, and at age 55, volunteered to serve in the Ohio Army National Guard 112th Medical Bde., from which he retired as a full colonel. He loved the United States, forever marveling at all its freedoms.
